  A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), has given reasons why the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, cannot reject the report of the  judicial panel on police brutality.   In a speech delivered on Thursday when some leaders of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights visited him in Lagos, Falana said, “Pursuant to the Tribunals of Inquiry Law, Laws of Lagos State, 2015, the Justice Doris Okuwobi Commission of Enquiry was instituted by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, last year to probe allegations of police brutality in the State.   “Upon the conclusion of the assignment last week, the commission submitted ‘a full report in writing of its proceedings, findings and recommendations, records, opinions, and reasons leading to its conclusions’ in line with Section 15(1) of the Law.   “Thereafter, the governor set up a four-member committee of cabinet members headed by the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice...

Fear has gripped most internet users after a NAF operative died courtesy of a snake that bit her while she was using the restroom.   Don Jazzy in his words said people told him to use salt (Nacl) but it seems he’s uncomfortable with that.   The music producer advised netizens to stand-up in a position that they will be able to look straight down while using the toilet bowls so that they can easily see if snake is present or not. While sharing the video, he accompanied it with the caption; “Finding alternative ways to sh*t ooo. This thing is not funny anymore.”

Bayelsa State Chairman, Gender Response Initiative Team(GRIT), Barrister Dise Sheila Ogbise says the body has been successful in the fight against gender -based violence in the State.  Barrister Ogbise, in a message to mark this year's 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence on the elimination of violence against women and girls, expressed appreciation to Governor Douye Diri for his foresight in inaugurating the body and his continuous support. Report reaching Bayelsa DailyOnline desk has it that one Elisha Edet is now cooling his heels at the headquarters of the  Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) Akwa Ibom State Command for allegedly conniving with his wife to sell their two daughters for N700,000, to offset debt and meet up other financial challenges. Elisha, who lives in Cameroon with his wife, was arrested by the Operatives of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the NSCDC in Uyo on the 15th of November while trying to sell the children, identified as Abasifreke and Rachael Edet. In a statement, State Police Public Relations Officer, Umana Ukeme, the suspect was quoted to have attributed his decision to sell his children to  hardship  According to the statement, the suspect confided in a security guard of his plan.   The Bayelsa State government says it has no plan to ban tricycles popularly known as Keke from operating in Yenagoa the State capital and its environs. In a statement, the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who debunked the  rumours making the rounds that it was planing to place ban on tricycles, described it as untrue. Ewhrudjakpo clarified that the recent meeting which government held with the various transport unions and the tricycle operators was mainly intended to brief them on security measures being taken to checkmate crimes being committed with tricycles. He further explained that part of the security measures include the registration of all Keke owners and riders with proper data capturing. According to the Deputy Governor, the new arrangement would provide every registered Keke in the state with a special security identification number that will make for easy tracking both at night and in the day time. Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has assured business owners and investors in the state of improved security to enable them carry out their  legitimate business activities ad well as invest in the state as government was making determined efforts to stem the tide of insecurity.
