Brazilian football legend Pele is dead



Brazilian football icon Pele, widely regarded as the greatest player of all time and a three-time World Cup winner who masterminded the “beautiful game,” has died at the age of 82, his family said Thursday.

“Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace,” daughter Kely Nascimento wrote on Instagram.

Gov. Diri Condoles Graham-Douglas Family

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has commiserated with the Graham-Douglas family of Abonnema community in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State over the death of prominent Ijaw leader, Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas. Alabo Graham-Douglas, who was at various times the Federal Minister of Social Development, Youth and Sports, Aviation, Labour and Productivity as well as Culture and Tourism, died a week ago in Abuja at the age of 82. In a condolence message to the family, the Bayelsa governor described the late Graham-Douglas as a foremost nationalist and cultural icon. Top Scrabble Players Vie For Gov Diri Prize Ahead World Championship

Former World and African champions are among top Nigerian players that will slug it out at the third edition of the Governor Douye Diri National Scrabble Championship. The two-day event hosted by the Bayelsa State Scrabble Association (BYSA) in Yenagoa, the state capital, is slated for July 8 and 9 at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall. The governor’s tournament serves as the final preparation for the Nigerian contingent to the World Scrabble Championship holding in the United States from July 15.
