Brazilian football legend Pele is dead



Brazilian football icon Pele, widely regarded as the greatest player of all time and a three-time World Cup winner who masterminded the “beautiful game,” has died at the age of 82, his family said Thursday.

“Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace,” daughter Kely Nascimento wrote on Instagram.

  The Bayelsa State government says it has no plan to ban tricycles popularly known as Keke from operating in Yenagoa the State capital and its environs. In a statement, the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who debunked the  rumours making the rounds that it was planing to place ban on tricycles, described it as untrue. Ewhrudjakpo clarified that the recent meeting which government held with the various transport unions and the tricycle operators was mainly intended to brief them on security measures being taken to checkmate crimes being committed with tricycles. He further explained that part of the security measures include the registration of all Keke owners and riders with proper data capturing. According to the Deputy Governor, the new arrangement would provide every registered Keke in the state with a special security identification number that will make for easy tracking both at night and in the day time. Russia and Ukraine Crisis: UEFA Shifts Champions League Final From Russia To France

  UEFA has moved this year’s Champions League final to France after it withdrew the right from Russia for invading Ukraine. Originally billed to hold at St. Petersburg stadium, it will now hold at the Stade de France, UEFA announced on Friday. The decision was reached after an extraordinary meeting held by the Executive Committee resulting from the escalation of the security situation caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Among the decisions taken was the change of venues for national team and clubs football engagements for both countries.
