Prosperity Cup:NUJ Bayelsa Progresses to Round of 16. ***Akenfa, Dream Academy, Dreams Boys FC Seals Round 16 Ticket**



The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, on Sunday made a clear statement of intent in their quest to win the Bayelsa State Governor's Football Tournament tagged the Prosperity Cup with a 4-0 thumping of Ikolo FC in a game decided at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

The NUJ team proved that apart from writing good stories everyday with catchy headlines for the public that they can also be described as title contenders.

Oghene Tari put NUJ FC ahead on 24 minute from Okadi Micah's right footed delivery having squander several scoring chances in the opening ten minutes of the game.

Substitute Gbefa Victor doubled the lead for NUJ on 76 minute from the spot kick when Ikolo FC defender Confident Ebisia hacked Sunday Samuel in his danger zone as Gbefa stepped forward to send Ikolo FC goalkeeper the wrong way.

Having conceded two goals Ikolo FC mounted pressure on NUJ FC to break John Angese led defence line as NUJ capitalized on a counter attack to make it 3-0 on 85 minute.

NUJ FC talisman Victor Gbefa added another goal to his name just before the final whistle to send coach John Idoko's men into celebration.

Earlier Dream Academy FC beat Kiri-Pogu Owokiri FC of Nembe 2-1 to move into the round of 16, midfielder Joe Victor gave the Nembe side the lead on 22 minute as Akali Murphy's brace on 47 minute and 50 minutes secured victory for Dream Academy.

At the Tombia center, Dreams Football Academy of Odi kept their dreams of winning Nigeria's biggest grassroots football tournament alive with a 4-0 win over Yenegwe FC, just as Akenfa FC defeated Buotoru FC of Igbedi by a lone goal.

More round of 32 actions will continue on monday, at the Army College, Ebedebiri Field, Agge United confront Ebi Amula's Agbere FC by 1pm, Azagbene Federated battle Ofoni United at 3pm while at the Niger Delta University, Amassoma venue, Ayisco FC Ogboinbiri will challenge Rose of Sharon FC at 1pm with Oporoma FC engaging Onopa FC by 3pm.

Meanwhile the round of 16 matches for the tournament will commence on Wednesday this week across different centers.
