Diri behind recent successes of Bayelsa sports teams, says aide, hails Bayelsa Queens

The Special Assistant to the Bayelsa State Governor on New Media, Mr. John Domkpee,  has congratulated the management and players of the Bayelsa Queens Football Club over their recent triumph in this year’s Nigerian Women Federation Cup (FA Cup).

Bayelsa Queens on Wednesday had beaten the Rivers Angels of Rivers State on penalties to retain the FA Cup trophy after playing out a goalless draw in normal time.

Domkpee in a statement on Saturday also said he is not surprised by the team’s triumph given that the team has amazing players and a success-driven management that have what it takes to win laurels for the state.

The governor’s aide further attributed the recent successes of sports teams in Bayelsa State to Governor Douye Diri whom he described as a sports lover.

He added that Diri’s constant support for the state’s sportsmen and women serves as an incentive for athletes to do well.

He said “I want to use this medium to celebrate the management and players of the Bayelsa Queens Football Club for winning the FA Cup.

“However, their recent victory did not come as a surprise to me knowing that the team has amazing players and success-driven management that have what it takes to win laurels for the state.

“Indeed in the last few years, the female team and other Bayelsa sports teams have been putting up outstanding performances in various competitions and many may be wondering why?

“The secret is crystal clear: the state helmsman in the person of our Leader, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri who is a sports lover himself has unrelentingly given our sportsmen and women the needed incentives to perform well.

“The Prosperity Government does not only make funds available for our footballers and other athletes before, during, and after competitions.

“The governor, his deputy, the commissioner, and other executive members of the government also often attend games and trainings; giving them the required moral and other support to win.

“Many Bayelsans will agree with me that a Governor who has the magic wand to motivate our athletes to win laurels deserves reelection to attract more victories to the state.”

While further noting that Diri is performing well not only in sports but also in other sectors of the state’s economy, Domkpee expressed belief that the governor will be retained in office after the Bayelsa gubernatorial election billed to hold this November.

“His Excellency is not only doing well in sports, almost every part of Bayelsa has become a construction site because of the numerous infrastructural projects being executed for the development of our state.

“I have no doubt in my mind that come November 11 eligible voters will come out in their numbers to reciprocate the Governor’s developmental strides by giving him another four years to benefit Bayelsans,” he expressed.
