Bayelsa Flood: Senator Cleopas visits submerged SILGA Communities. •••Donates Cash Palliatives, seeks FG’s, others support

 The Senator representing Bayelsa Central at the National Assembly, Senator Moses Cleopas, in continuation of his tour of flood ravaged communities across the State, has also visited some communities in Southern Ijaw Local Government area of the State.


Senator Cleopas, who visited Funibiri, Opuama, Ekowe, Olugbobiri and Otuan communities of his senatorial district, urged them to remain undaunted just as he also empathized  with other communities he is yet to reach out to.


Speaking with journalists shortly after the on the spot assessment tour, Senator Cleopas, lamented that level of damaged occasioned by the flood in the communities, donated cash palliatives to reduce their pains.


Senator Cleopas, who lauded the governor for the measures put in place to reduce their sufferings, said he deemed it necessary to also put his token into what the government and other individuals were already doing as a way of sharing in pains of impacted people and Communities.

Commiserating with the victims over the untold hardship, the lawmaker encouraged  them not to be in despair but keep fate with God just as he also conveyed the governor’s message of hope to the them.

The former PDP State chairman , who described Bayelsa and SILGA as flood worst hit, and a State that contributed immensely to the mainstay of the economy, reiterated his appeal to the federal government IOCs to come to the rescue of displaced and suffering flood victims. 

Senator Cleopas, called for collaboration among states and federal government, multinational oil companies and other relevant agencies to build the required infrastructure to contain excess waters to avert the perennial flooding 

He promised to embark on free medical outreach to flood affected communities to cater for their medical needs as soon as the flood receded.

In their remarks, Paramount rulers of Opuama and Ekowe communities, Chief Ede Olaemi and Chief Andy Toboro, described the senator’s visit as timely and a step in the right direction, noting that he was the first to identify with them in their trying moment, 


Cheif Olaemi and Toboro, described Goethe lawmaker’s concern and assessment tours to flood impacted Communities and his undeterred efforts at providing the impacted areas with succor in their most trying times as having again demonstrated his true leadership qualities.

Recall that Senator Cleopas, had visited Anyama, BDGS, Yenagao main town, Akenfa one camps as well as Okordia, Zarama-Biseni kingdom, were he donated cash palliatives to cushion the effect of the flood.
