Bayelsa flood: Senator Cleopas donates cash palliative to victims.

As part of measures to reduce the sufferings of flood victims, the Senator representing Bayelsa Central at the National Assembly, Senator Moses Cleopas, has donated cash palliative to IDP  at Anyama, BDGS and down Yenagoa, camps across the State.

Presenting the cash palliative to the heads of various camps, Senator Clopas said the gesture is aimed at complementing Governor Douye Diri’s efforts in giving succor to victims, since the state government alone cannot shoulder the challenges occasioned by the flood.

Senator Clopas, who described Bayelsa as worst hit state, lauded Governor Diri for putting measures in place to assuage the sufferings of victims and called on the federal government and other relevant agencies to complement government efforts.

Senator Clopas, while stressing that the state contributed  enormously to the sustenance of the country, wondered why the Federal Government was yet to give the state the attention it deserved.

The erstwhile State PDP chairman, who empathized with Bayelsans over the untold hardship occasioned by the flood, urged residents and victims not to be in despair, saying the cash palliative was his token to support their recovery process.

Lamenting on its effect on the lives and economy of the people, Senator Cleopas, also called on multi-national oil companies, and IOCs operating in the state to show empathy to their host state.

Describing Governor Diri as a beckon of hope to the needy, the lawmaker promised to lobby his colleagues to support any bill that would proffer lasting solution to the problem of the perennial flooding in the country.

Responding, Coordinator  of Anyama IDP camp, Mr Doodei Week, Amanaowei of Anyama Community, Chief Amein Sariki and Community leader in Yenagoa town, Chief Teddy Ayamalein, described the lawmaker’s visit as laudable, noting that his presence has given the already despaired victims hope.

Dr. Doodei, Chief Sariki and Chief Ayamalen,  stressed that the compassion of a true leader was felt not only during electioneering period but also in times of distress and thanked Senator Clopas for being a true leader.

The trio also appreciated him for setting the leadership pace and called on other corporate bodies and spirited individuals to take a cue from the member of the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
