Bayelsa Govt set to send 200 farmers for training program in Nasarawa State.

 Participants of the second batch of the Bayelsa State sponsored training programme for farmers and intending farmers on agriculture have been charged to take the exercise seriously, and be good ambassadors of the state.

 

The 200 beneficiaries, expected to be trained in Nasarawa State for a period of two weeks,  by Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) will be on fish farming, vegetable production, poultry, cassava and farm management among other areas.

 

Speaking during a briefing/orientation programme for participants, Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief David Alagoa, said the essence is to enable them acquire practical knowledge on modern farming system.

 

Chief Alagoa, who described the programme as deliberate government plans to ensure food sufficiency, exporter of agricultural produce, implored them to add value to the agricultural value chain, upon  completion of the programme two weeks programme.

 

While describing agriculture as the mainstay of the economy, the Commissioner, admonished them to be of good conduct and shun any negative tendencies that would portray Bayelsa in a bad light among comity of other states.

 

Also speaking, Programme Manager of Agricultural Development, Mr Jackson Diegbegha, advised beneficiaries to remain focused and take the training seriously, noting that the training will empower them in various skills.

 

Mr Diegbegha, who said the programme was yielding the government desired result, based on the testimonies from participants from the batch A, charged them to consolidate and surpass the success stories of the previous batch.

 

Speaking on behalf of other participants, Mrs Josephine Ekeuwei and Mr Abenzi Johnathan, appreciated Governor Douye Diri for creating the platform for the training and also the Commissioner, for implementing the laudable polices and programmes of government to uplift the standard living of its citizenry.

 

Mrs Ekeuwei and Mr. Jonathan, who promised to be good ambassadors of the State and to their families, pledged to impart the knowledge and experience garnered during the training to other Bayelsans.

Enugu 2023: Peter Mbah wins PDP governorship primary

The erstwhile  Enugu State Commissioner for Fnance, Peter Mbah, has won the governorship primary of the  Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) held on Wednesday in Enugu. Mr Mbah polled 790 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chijioke Edeoga, who secured nine votes. The result was announced by the chairman of the electoral panel appointed by the National Working Committee of the PDP, Sunday Ambuno. After the withdrawal of about 12 aspirants from the race, only five aspirants participated in the exercise. A total of 812 delegates were accredited for the exercise. Out of the 807 total votes cast, 804 were valid and three rendered invalid. Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri,  has been commended for backing his words with action  by delivering State of the art equipment to Niger Delta Television station (NDTV). State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon.
