Expedite action on recruitment, training; Diri urges Bayelsa Community Safety Corp.
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye, has called on the Bayelsa Community Safety Corp to expedite action in terms of recruitment and training, saying the people are eager to see them on the street of Yenagoa and in the local government areas.
Presiding over the 86th executive council meeting at Government house Yenagao,
Governor Diri expressed optimism that with the new security outfit on stream, and working together with other security agencies, crime and criminality would be reduced to the barest.
His words; “Let me also use this opportunity to call on our new outfit, the Bayelsa Community Safety Corp (BCSC), to expedite action in terms of their recruitment training. Bayelsans are eagerly waiting for you to see our new outfit on the streets of Yenagoa and in our Local Government Areas. And I am sure that working together with the communities with the traditional rulers' council and with the people, Bayelsa will become a safe place for investors and where can all sleep with our two eyes closed.”
While pointing out that the security of lives and properties is a collective responsibility of all Bayelsans, he advised them to report any security breach in their domain to the security agencies for necessary action.
On the the forthcoming general elections, the State number citizen called on politicians to eschew bitterness and play d game by the rules and regulations.
Reiterating his earlier call for unity, oneness and love among the people of the State, particularly the backdrop of the next year’s elections, he implored politicians to play the game with love.
"I will like to use the medium of this weekly Executive Council meeting to reiterate my earlier calls for oneness, unity, love, and peace in our State. Particularly against the backdrop of the forthcoming 2023 general election.
Bayelsa and Bayelsans should eschew bitterness and play the politics of love according to the rules that guide the game. It is a game, it is like a football match, with all the skills that you have, but at the end of the day, in a democracy, the final determinant, is the people. The people decide who governs them, so, the people will determine whether you are good enough in whichever office that you are.”Governor Diri speaking.
The governor, also said power comes from God and from the electorates, advised voters to exercise their franchise on credible leaders.
Describing Bayelsa as a Jerusalem of the Ijaw nation, Governor Diri urged the people to remain peaceful and love one another in order to justify the assertion.
He called on the youths to avoid being used as tools in the hands of politicians to cause mayhem before, during and after the elections.
The State helmsman, commended Bayelsans for their support to the present government and assured that his administration would continue to initiate policies and programmes to better the lot of Bayelsans.
“Let me again thank the good people of Bayelsa State for the peace that we have in the State because security is everybody's business. Security is not only for security agencies, as much as the security agencies in the State are doing their best, the individuals will also contribute their quotas to enhance the security and the peace of our State and all of us, particularly in the city of Yenagoa, if you see some that will disturb the security and peace of the State, "Say Something," and I am sure the security agencies will respond.”
