Bayelsa West Senatorial District: YPP Adopts Tombra Jennifer-Mohammed, as Sole Candidate. •••Bayelsa will be an exporter of fish and other agricultural produce-Mrs Mohammed
A philanthropist, Mrs.Tombra Jennifer-Mohammed (Née Waritimi), has emerged as Young Progressives Party, (YPP) sole candidate for Bayelsa West Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly.
The primaries which was held in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state, saw YPP leaders and other stakeholders of the party unanimously adopted Mrs Mohammed as their sole candidate to fly the party flag come 2023.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the election, the returning officer, Mr. Michael Okosuokeme, said the adoption of Mrs Tombra Jennifer as the party’s sole candidate was as a result of her passion for service, and tasked the party’s standard bearer on unity and inclusive administration and prayed for her success in the general elections.
Mr. Okosuokeme, thanked the party leaders for given Mrs. Tombra Jennifer the opportunity to serve the people of the senatorial and expressed the optimism that the Senator hopeful would bring her wealth of experience to bear in the legislative business.
In her acceptance speech, YPP standard bearer for the Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Mrs Tombra Jennifer who said she was overwhelmed by the show of love, called on all party chieftains to rally round her to succeed, assuring them dividends of democracy.
Describing her emergence as divinely orchestrated to serve the senatorial district, Mrs. Mohammed appealed to contestants from the senatorial district to jettison their ambitions and close ranks with the YPP to move the district forward.
Mrs Tombra Jennifer who promised to be a unifying factor if elected, also pledged to operate all-inclusive administration where constructive criticism to advance the cause of the district and the state would be welcomed.
Calling on the electorates to come out en-mass and vote for her, the Senator hopeful assured that youths empowerment and provision of job opportunities would among other things form the fulcrum of her administration.
The YPP candidate, called for a paradigm shift from over-dependent on oil to agriculture, where the state has a comparative advantage, just as she also pledged to industrialize farming to make it a money spinning venture, as well as make the state an exporter of fish and other agricultural produce.
