Bayelsa: Police order arrest of killers of motorcyclist.


Bayelsa State Commissioner for Police, Mr Ben Okolo, has ordered for the arrest of the killers of a commercial motorcycle rider, Goodnews Okirinya, who was murdered  at Emeyal II community in Ogbia Local Government Area of the State.

Bayelsa Daily Online gathered that the deceased, who was reportedly killed on Sunday was an indigene of Emeyal 2 Community.

It was further learnt that the deceased’s lifeless body was said to have been found on Monday morning at Bakery axis in Imiringi Community, and his motorcycle stolen.

The police in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, charged Operatives in the state investigate and fish out the culprits of the dastardly act.

The statement continues “The deceased rider identified as one Goodnews Okirinya 30 years, was murdered by unknown assailants, who stole his motorcycle and dumped his body in a cassava farm at Emeyal II Community”

“The body was discovered on 30 May 2022 at about 0915 hours.

The scene was visited by operatives, photographs taken and the corpse evacuated to the hospital for autopsy. An investigation is ongoing”

Conduct Credible LG Poll, Gov Diri Charges Electoral Commission *Also Inaugurates Civil Service Commission, State, LG Auditors-General

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has tasked new members of the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC) to conduct credible local government election that will be a reference point in Nigeria. The governor also urged the commission to exercise its independence. Governor Diri gave the charge on Wednesday when he swore in chairman and members of the commission and that of the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission. Also sworn in were the state’s Auditor-General, his local government counterpart as well as a member of the Judicial Service Commission. Bayelsa: PDP receives more APC defectors from Nembe LGA.

The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the weekend, received another batch of defectors from the opposition  of the All Progressives Congress (APC) The decampees from Agrisaba in Nembe Local Government Area led by Comrade Ebinabo Jumbo, explained that their decision to leave the APC for the PDP was largely informed by Governor Diri's disposition towards the unity and development of the state. Comrade Jumbo noted that in less than two years in office, the prosperity administration under Governor Diri had shown genuine commitment to good governance through its people-oriented policies, programmes and development projects in an unbiased manner.
