Bayelsa: HOSTCOM passes vote of no confidence on its chairman, Boma Albert. ..... Appoints new Ag. Chairman.

 The Host Communities Producing Oil and Gas of Nigeria, (HOSTCOM) Bayelsa State Chapter, has passed vote of no confidence on its Chairman, Mr. Boma Kerekebuna Albert, over allegations of  alledged gross misconduct and embezzlement of funds levelled against him by members of the body. 

The decision to pass the vote of no confidence and the indefinite suspension of the embattled chairman was carried out by a 2/3 majority vote of the expanded exco members, after an elaborate meeting with the elders consultative council, executive council and stakeholders of HOSTCOM held at its secretariat in Yenagoa.   

The embattled chairman was also accused of misappropriation of community projects, using the name of HOSTCOM to extort monies from unsuspecting Nigerians, hijacking of local content training programme, compelling of the treasurer to sign blank cheque for his personal gain, financial misconduct, administrative incompetence, abuse of office and high-handedness.


The body said Mr. Albert, who consistently demonstrated lack of managerial skills,  was seen severally bullying and fighting his subordinates, also diverted HOSTCOM funds into his wife’s account and mismanagement of community registration funds, ID card and national levy funds.  

At the end of the general meeting, Mr. Samson Dabbey, was appointed as the acting State Chairman to pilot the affairs of the body pending when a committee will be set-up to look into the allegations levelled against the embattled chairman. 

In his acceptance speech, the acting State Chairman of HOSTCOM, Samson Dabbey, who thanked members of the body for their peaceful disposition during and after the meeting, appreciated them for finding him worthy to serve and promised to mend fences.

 

While calling on members to remain calm and allow the national leadership of HOSTCOM to do the needful, Mr Dabbey promised to work with all stakeholders to restore peace in the body. 

The HOSTCOM acting chairman, who called on aggrieved members to sink their differences for the development of the body in the system, pleaded with them to close ranks and work with him in order to move the state HOSTCOM to an enviable heights  

He assured members of all-inclusive administration where constructive criticism to unite the body would be welcomed.

Meanwhile, the eighteen signatories to Mr. Albert suspension were, the HOSTCOM General Secretary, Mepirima AmosConsultant,Mr. Authority BensonIOC stakeholder, Mr. Tonworio Wilson;Publicity Secretary, Mr. Shally TheophilusCoordinators, Ebiegberi Trust, Chief Roland Kiente, Christopher Orun, Tena Joy Diekedie, Dehmeon Wuka, and Organising Secretary, Thomas Kemetimunere, amongst others.
