Bayelsa: Gov. Diri bags “Man of the Year Award” 2021

 FirstNews, a budding News Media organisation, has presented an award to Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, for his outstanding performance in 2021 



FirstNews, a budding News Media organisation, says the governor's leadership style, unprecedented level of peace and stability achieved under his administration were some of the qualities that endeared them to him.

Making reference to the letter of award, the Publisher and former State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said, " In the last two years, we have closely followed your leadership style and we are greatly impressed on how you have made Bayelsa the desired destination of many. Aside supporting security agencies to effectively combat crime and criminality, you have reduced the political tension in the state which used to be a major cause for clashes and inter-party rivalry. "

He continued, "We make particular reference to how you invited some members of the opposition party in the state to join you and other leaders for the maiden commercial flight to the Bayelsa International Airport. 

Clearly, you have demonstrated that as a people, politics shouldn't bring about division. In addition to that, you have set a new record that as governor you do not only serve members of your party but the general interest of the State. 

Little wonder, Bayelsa is growing exponentially. We commend you in this regard and urge you to continue along this trajectory. You're indeed our man of the year 2021 for your UNENDING TENACITY In PROMOTING PEACE AND STABILITY IN BAYELSA STATE. "

Enugu 2023: Peter Mbah wins PDP governorship primary

The erstwhile  Enugu State Commissioner for Fnance, Peter Mbah, has won the governorship primary of the  Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) held on Wednesday in Enugu. Mr Mbah polled 790 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chijioke Edeoga, who secured nine votes. The result was announced by the chairman of the electoral panel appointed by the National Working Committee of the PDP, Sunday Ambuno. After the withdrawal of about 12 aspirants from the race, only five aspirants participated in the exercise. A total of 812 delegates were accredited for the exercise. Out of the 807 total votes cast, 804 were valid and three rendered invalid. Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri,  has been commended for backing his words with action  by delivering State of the art equipment to Niger Delta Television station (NDTV). State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayiba Duba, gave the commendation during the flag-off of a two month training programme for staffers  of the NDTV for effective handling of equipment at the Ernest Ikoli Media Complex, Yenagoa. Hon. Duba expressed gratitude to God and Governor Douye Diri for the equipment, said  it will enable quality service delivery and effective dissemination of government polices and programmes by the state owned broadcasting station across the Niger Delta region He therefore, urged staffers to be committed to the course of the Government for greater opportunities and empowerment.
